So I say go for it Israel stand your ground and defend your land.  You have stayed quiet and have taken enough from Hamas and from most of the world overall.

curse those who curse you.” Genesis 12:3

IDF recommends major, but brief Gaza ground offensive

The Israel Defense Forces recommended a major, but relatively short-term, ground offensive in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, as military preparations continued on the border. The army was given the green light to forge ahead with Operation Cast Lead, which entered its sixth day Thursday.

Detailed briefings have been underway for the past two days at Southern Command, with officers receiving their orders. The General Staff believes that more pressure must be put on Hamas to make it agree to a long-term cease-fire under conditions more favorable to Israel.

Cabinet ministers on Wednesday approved the mobilization of 2,500 army
reservists, expanding on an earlier call-up of 6,500 soldiers for the force on the Gaza border.

The IDF said rocket fire on the south was expected to continue during a ground operation. The army recommends that a diplomatic exit plan be prepared while a cease-fire agreement is formulated.

While defense officials tend to favor a clear agreement with Hamas, even if it is not enshrined in a written document, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni is considering another idea.

She reportedly believes that it might be better to aim for a situation in which there is no clearly set-out agreement, but Israel would make clear beforehand that it would respond forcefully to any firing from Gaza after hostilities ended.

Olmert, for his part, has conditioned any future truce between Israel and Hamas on the establishment of an international mechanism to monitor the cease-fire.

Troutdale police arrest suspect in attack on elderly woman

By: Stephen Beaven, The Oregonian

A Gresham man accused of bursting nude into an elderly woman’s home and attacking her Tuesday morning faces accusations of burglary, harassment and private indecency.

Michael G. Dick, 46, was arrested by Troutdale police a short time after the attack, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.

The 88-year-old woman told police that a naked man entered her home in the 2500 block of SE 287th Avenue through an unlocked sliding door around 6:30 a.m.

She said the man backed her into the living room and pushed her face-down on a chair.

But when she grabbed the man’s crotch and squeezed, he ran away, the sheriff’s office said.

A county code enforcement officer who heard the call on his radio spotted a car near the woman’s house and passed on the license information to police.

Congressman to Donate Pay Raise to Charity!!

Well since at the moment we have no way to stop the congressional raises, some representatives are doing something that I am okay with until we get the chance to change the whole absurd Automatic pay raise.

US Rep. Barrett to give pay raise to SC charity

COLUMBIA, S.C. — U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett says he is donating his new congressional raise to an Anderson charity.

Barrett says he will donate the $4,700 salary increase that begins in 2009 to Anderson Interfaith Ministries – an organization of churches and individuals who provide assistance to the needy and helps them become self-sufficient.

Barrett says lawmakers should not be earning more during these poor economic times. He says he voted against the automatic pay raise and all increases should have to be voted on individually.

Barrett is beginning his fourth term in Congress. The Republican’s district runs along the Savannah River in the northwestern corner of South Carolina.
