McCain-Palin Campaign throwing out racial codes?

with 5 comments

Well apparently that is what Representative Gregory Meeks, a Democrat from New York would like you to think.  The Obama campaign must have sent out racial talking points, because if I recall Obama said something along those exact lines.

Black Congressmen Declare Racism In Palin’s Rhetoric

‘Racism Is Alive, Well’ Says Democrat Ed Towns; Greg Meeks: ‘Racial’

As the McCain campaign ratchets up the intensity of its attacks on Barack Obama, some black elected officials are calling the tactics desperate, unseemly and racist.

“They are trying to throw out these codes,” said Representative Gregory Meeks, a Democrat from New York.

“He’s ‘not one of us?’” Mr. Meeks said, referring to a comment Sarah Palin made at a campaign rally on Oct. 6 in Florida. “That’s racial. That’s fear. They know they can’t win on the issues, so the last resort they have is race and fear.”

“Racism is alive and well in this country, and McCain and Palin are trying to appeal to that and it’s unfortunate,” said Representative Ed Towns, also from New York.

In recent days, as polls have shown a steady lead for the Democratic ticket, Mr. McCain and Ms. Palin have used reports of Mr. Obama’s loose association with Bill Ayers, a former member of the ’60s radical group the Weather Underground, as evidence that he is different from them.

Rest of the story is here at The New York Observer.

It just seems so funny, that the only side we’ve seen any proof of playing the race card, then goes and  tries to scare voters by claiming that McCain, Palin and the Republicans are being the racists.  But then you have folks in the MSM, come out and say if we don’t vote Obama, than we are racists.  HAHA  It is just so laughable, and has been happening more frequently.  Their cries of foul play and scare tactics are a sign of desperation and them being afraid they may not win the election, even thought the MSM has all but called the race.

  1. That’s it? The liberals aren’t even trying to deny the facts anymore, just throw out the word “racist” and it doesn’t matter what you’ve said or done?
How stupid do they think we are? Racism?!?
    This is 2008!

  2. I’m a black Republican and suprise, suprise I’m not voting for Obama. Despite what the MSM would have you believe, there are some of us around who aren’t voting for him, although we are definately in the minority. I have looked at where Obama’s stands on the issues that I care about, such as size of government, guns and taxes and find that I agree more with McCain. So, my question for the MSM and the liberals is, if everything is about race and you say someone is racist against blacks for not voting for Obama, does it make you a reverse racist if you vote for Obama instead of Mccain?

  3. This tawdry campaign led by our Republicans better stop shedding the spotlight on Sarah Palin. How wonderful she may appear to our base is not helping to what the media and middle voters now think! Powell summed it up in a very logical way. Comparing the lower half of our ticket to Obama is a losing battle! America needs to hear how our products and services are going to skyrocket when the corporate, high income and small business are affected by Obama’s taxes! You hear how it will affect small business, but McCain stops short of saying that the Wonderbreads and Goodyears are not going to absorb these taxes willingly without passing them along to us as the American consumer! You want to see a depression and record unemployment continue? If we don’t overcome the burnt out engines from what was once driving our party then McCain is headed for another crash and we will all be held prisoners of war!

  4. Mr. Robinson-

Thanks for your taking the time to stop by and comment. I understand your frustration b/c it is shared by so many. But I must say, that the ONLY folks I hear talking more of Palin than McCain, are the MSM.

You are right the American People want to hear about the issues and how bad our Great Country will go down the tubes should “The Messiah”, get elected. The other folks I could understand you feeling (they are republican why talk about Palin) are talking Palin, are the same folks who didn’t care for the Palin pick to begin with..

  5. “I remember when I was a small child, my grandfather took me to see the astronauts return home…my mother would get me up at 4:30am to go over my homework…”

If the pictures accompanying this particular ad are not poster children for playing the race card in an election, then it has never been played. It’s enough to make me start thinking independent.
