Even the Unimaginable starts somewhere! (3rd Term Politican)

Is it just me, or does the fact that the MSM, has not touch the story about Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his recent idea of changing the term limits, so that he could serve a 3rd Term if reelected bother anyone else?

MAYOR’S ‘3RD TERM’ MANEUVER

FLASHBACK: The Post first reported it in April.

Mayor Bloomberg is considering extending term limits through a deal with the City Council that would allow him another four years, while also boosting lawmakers’ time in office, sources told The Post.

Bloomberg has publicly said he intends to leave when his term ends on Dec. 31, 2009, but has privately expressed interest in undoing the city’s cap of two four-year terms with a legislative change, not a public referendum, sources said.

Bloomberg has recently indicated he believes he has plenty of time next year to work out an arrangement with the council, sources said. “It’s more ‘yes’ than ‘no’ right now,” a source said. “They think they have time to wait until after the [November] election.”

Extending term limits through legislation could be controversial, because some believe they can be changed only through a public referendum.

The Post first reported in April that Bloomberg was contemplating a move on term limits.

Bloomberg and council Speaker Christine Quinn both denied a deal is being considered.

“As the mayor has said again and again, and as recently as yesterday, he expects to serve out his second term, and then turn the office over to someone else,” Bloomberg spokesman Stu Loeser said.

Quinn “has never spoken to the mayor or anyone in this administration about this,” said her spokesman, Jamie McShane.

Yeah I know, you’re thinking I’m nuts but just sit and think about it.  How far fetched is the idea really?  I mean the newly appointed Governor of N.Y. (Governor David Patterson) thinks it is just a wonderful idea.

“If he wants to run for mayor a third time, I think it’s a great idea,” Paterson said.

Folks this is just what the liberals would like to see happen. Once they would help get the limits changed, they will blame Mayor Bloomberg and claim he is an Independent, not a liberal democrat (which is technically correct). If they would be able to get this passed, which I believe is possible, especially if the MSM and the rest of us, who actually pay attention and care about the wool that is trying to be pulled over our eyes don’t speak up, where will they stop? I mean once one elected position has the term limits adjusted, the rest will follow suit, crying foul if anyone objects to their sneaky ways of prolonging their political careers.

We the American voters are actually the ones who should have a say and a chance to vote on a referendum that would allow changes to term limits. Folks we can not forget, nor can we allow our “Elected Officials” forget that they are elected by “The People”, to do none other than “Serve the People!”

American we can not continue to allow this manipulation of our “Elected” government to continue. Now is the time to stand up, before the democrats get too much traction and run America, “The Greatest Country” into the ground.

Update: 10/1/2008

Well it is official, Billionaire NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg will push for a change in the city’s term-limits law.

Update:  ‘Aye’ And Mighty: Bloomberg’s Wish Is Granted

I can just see this opening a whole new thing where elected officials will want to get rid of term limits or extend them in every possible position they can think of.

God Bless,

  2. I did see this story yesterday – not sure where (iGoogle page, Google Reader or a Twitter update).

You made excellent points about the power and control that politicians thrive upon, while they dismiss “we the people.”
