Why do cities have to front Presidential Candidates’ visits?

leave a comment »

Am I missing something here?  I read an article in one of the local newspapers with the following headline, “Candidates’ visits to PA costly.”  This intrigued my curiosity, so I read the article and “WOW”, is all I could say.

We have these candidates out campaigning and claiming we are going through or heading towards a recession, and that our economy is going down the drain.  These are the same candidates who are breaking fund raising records by bringing in double digit millions almost monthly.  Maybe it is me but wouldn’t that give you the idea that these candidates should be able to cover the costs of campaign stops.  Some cities claim they are still owed money for outstanding, police and security expenses related to campaign events.  Four different PA cities that were chosen to host campaign events are out about $24,800 and 100 police officer hrs.

[THE BILL

Cities said they’re left with the following costs after presidential candidates visited:

about $3,000: Hillary Clinton’s April visit to York

about $1,800: one of Barack Obama’s visits to Lancaster

about $20,000: visits from Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama to Wilkes-Barre

100 extra police hours: Clinton and Obama visits to Bethlehem]

This just baffles me because you have these candidates who are in no way in touch w/ the everyday American.  Yet they will gladly take as much of our hard earned money as they can.  Then their campaigns don’t even make sure all the costs involved with holding an event are taken care of.  Anyone willing to take a good guess at who will end up fronting the rest of the bill?  My guess would be the hardworking American taxpayers living in those towns.  How many other towns and cities do they still owe money too?

I don’t know about you, but this just infuriates me.  There may not be any laws or requirements to pay for everything, but they should be more than happy to pay for the privilege to meet the hard working Americans, who decide their fate come Nov.

Whatever Happened to that Famous “Race” Speech?

leave a comment »

I was just reading through the Sunday Newspaper and came across a great column”Obama’s Speech Rings Hollow” by Charles Krauthammer.  Then it actually got me wondering what happened to all the hoopla and hype over Obama’s great “Race” speech in Philadelphia?  I mean for days afterward all we heard was how great he did and how we as a nation needed such a speech.  The MSM, and all those Obama loving TV networks were practically drooling over the speech.  I remember reading or hearing about how “this speech will go down as one of the greatest in history”, and blah, blah, blah.  I mean Bob Herbert a columnist from the NYT went as far as suggesting that the speech “should be required reading in classrooms across the country”.  I’ll give them one thing and that’s it, the man can speak to a crowd.  He is quite a speaker, especially when he has a TelePrompter.

Well if this speech was so great why aren’t we still hearing all about it?  It has only been a little over a month, and I am not sure the last time I heard it brought up.  How can something that great and powerful, be forgotten so quickly?

Could it be that the MSM, the TV Networks, and all those Obama supporters don’t want everyone to start setting their stop watches for Barack their new “Messiah” to disown his white grandmother, and the black community, just like he disowned Rev. Wright.  That came in his “race” speech as well, stating he “could no more disown Wright than his White Grandmother or the black community”.

Well after Wright repeated his radical comments in the public settings, Obama had no choice but to try and sever all ties with Rev. Wright.  Yes it just goes to show the typical politician and their desire to gain “political expediency”.  However I have yet to see the news conference where Barack Hussein Obama has disowned his “white grandmother or the black community”.  I’m sure I am not the only person interested in finding out when this news conference will take place.  Wait what am I thinking, he never knew how bad his 20yr Rev. was until April 28th when Wright was invited to the National Press Club.

Is Barack Hussein Obama still a U.S. Senator?

leave a comment »

Last I checked I thought Barack Obama was still a U.S. Senator from Illinois!  Well I would like to know what he is doing playing basketball against the NC Tarheels?  So he is playing basketball, campaigning for the presidency and trying to save his presidential bid by breaking his relationship with his Spiritual Mentor, Advisor and friend Rev. Jeremiah Wright.  I’m sorry, but we have not heard anything different from what Rev. Wright said at his pulpit.  So it is blatantly obvious that there is a need for Obama to try and pretend not to be a typical dishonest politician. HMMMM.  He is doing all of this while there have been a horrible amount of shootings going on in Chicago.

This is one main reason I feel that any elected official who wants to run for another office should have to step down.  It is only fair to the constituents that voted him/her into office, end up getting the most attention.  If it not for those voters they would not have been elected!!  I may be mistaken, and will gladly correct myself but I have not heard Obama address the 36 shootings and 9 deaths and that was just two days…..(oh wait there was another shooting murder which brings the total to an unfortunate 12 killings.  But that doesn’t include the 20 Chicago public school students who were shot to death six months ago.

It may seem like I am picking on Obama, but I’d be critical of any politician in his position.  Our elected officials need to remember they are elected to serve the constituents, not try to secure their own political agenda or future.  And definitely not to sit and neglect their duty as elected officials.
